Persuasive Writing
We are working on our Persuasive Writing!
We are going to try to convince everyone else to believe or do something that is important to us!
What is that you ask? Well, that is just it?
Ask us what we are writing about.
We have learned that a good persuasive piece has a quality grabber in a introductory paragraph,
at least 3 advantages and background evidence for each one,
we need to provide counter-arguments for each disadvantage we can think of,
and then we need to wrap it all up in a complete conclusion paragraph
which restates our arguments for what we are trying to convince you of.
We will talk you into believe us because we are turning into
AWESOME PERSUADERS!!!

A New Year has Begun!!! We are working on getting ready!!! Sharpening our skills!!!!!
We are reading stories that are about people who lived through the American Revolutionary War.
Each one of us is involved in reading a book, taking notes, learning new vocabulary so that we can contribute to a weekly conversation with other students who are reading the same book. We are either reading Daughter of Liberty, Phoebe the Spy or Guns for General Washington. Ask us about our book.

Poetry
Poetry is Coming up!
We are going to begin reading, enjoying and deeply looking at and analyzing poetry.
We want to become poets and we want to know it!
Find some poems, read them with us and then discuss with us what the poet was trying to say!

First Nine Weeks Completed!!!!
We have all
made it through our first nine weeks!
Now, we really get down to the business of learning!
First nine
weeks is for getting into the groove, reviving our good habits and our
memories.
Now, we need to start the
learning and grow as students and people!
We need to
talk every day about we have learned,
what we still want to know more about and then
go off and discover!
That desire
to learn with, from and teach others is the step we must first take to
grow!!!!
Motivation
is the beginning! Determination is the middle! Perseverance
is the path to the end!
Put your
superhero cape on and let's take off!!!

Benchmark testing is all done for a few months!
We don't have the results back yet but when we do,
make sure to ask
your child
about
what they need to work on to make improve.
They will know because we all now have
Data Notebooks
to track
all our Reading and Language Arts grades.
The data notebook also has FAIR(Reading) data.
We have already talked about
where
we need to work.
Ask your child where they need help!!!!!
